Oni Journals: Phantoms

Phantoms have currently caught my attention, and have been called for examining. But in my studies I have found many interesting things of the creatures the population of Jamaa calls ‘phantoms’.

Studying into many old books within the chamber of knowledge and our own archives inside the Zios Library, the tales say Mira, was the creator of the phantoms by tears mourning for Zios the day he fell from the sky and crashed into the ground. Other theories have shown instead if her tears, as Zios crashed into the center of The Temple Of Zios, the earth cracked unleashing the dark power of the phantoms. Marx, a head adventurer has said in all of his travels he had never seen a phantom much different than the other, all of them together being pitch black, all of their bodies being circular, a large white eye with a simple black pupil in the middle. Their variations were either the color and type of electrical pulses coming from their bodies, if not or the way they attacked other beings, their ability and view points on spotting ‘prey’ or intruders, etc. Something all alike is they have the levitating ability, and they all of tendrils, or tentacles coming from their large pitch-black circular body. They have the ability to fly, from the members going ‘sky high’ have had to dodge the pesky things all up to the sight of the moon.

‘Normal’ Phantom

The most common of the phantoms seen around Jamaa, mentioned as being in the ‘sky high’ parts of the land, they differ between the colors of their electrical shocks coming from their body. Red or a Whitish-blue. When approached by another animal, (They consider enemies) The will try to charge forward and zap said animal into unconsciousness.  The phantom fighters around Jamaa have noted they have a small amount of intelligence from their ability to create formations to attack. Though this intelligence is small. Their sights differ depending on the amount of light surrounding them. All of them have six tendrils coming out of their body.

‘Proto Phantoms’

The phantoms known, as ‘proto’ phantoms are very small compared to the others, they are similar in size to the pets many people around Jamaa have, and many pets of jammers have had taken charge to taking out said phantoms during time of Night Of The Phantoms. For some reason these smaller versions of the Normal phantoms have a strange obsession in the accumulation of getting anything sweet, like the candy during this time.

Kings

Phantom kings are much bigger than the regular phantoms, as called ‘kings’ they may be in charge of small to large groups of phantoms in an area, it is unknown at the moment who the leader of the phantoms are, if it is just a mass of correlating antagonists, or just unorganized chaos. They have a notable formation of spikes on top of their head, looking similar to a crown. Around the bottom of their body they have dark violet spots, showing a strange difference compared to how nearly all of the phantoms carry the trait of the pitch-black body with the white eye with the black pupil.

Goop

‘Phantom Goop’ is thought to be miss formed phantoms that never took full form, but instead took a goop like form.  If not miss formed it is also thought that they may be watch guards, as they are found in phantom hives. They have one large eye in the center, carrying the trait of all other phantoms with a simple, black pupil. That occasionally blinks; three smaller eyes surround it with the same form as the bigger. There have been no recorded differences in all of the goop. They all seem to be exact. Another strange mention of the goop is that it is passive, it has never attacked or at least tried to cause harm to another adventurer, or even a lost or wandering jammer. Many have come to think that the goop is unable to move other than blinking its eyes.

Coral

 The Coral  Phantom is different from the others, it is only an Under Water type phantom. It mimics the formation of coral in the sea in a way. But, the way it forms it still has the ability to harm another from its sharp spikes and electrical charge... It has a slanted eye near the bottom of its form, whilst looking at the Coral Phantom, every few seconds an electrical surge will spread across it. It has been proven to be a type of barrier in the under water hives. It can not be destroyed, but only to be avoided by the adventurers. 

Watcher

The Phantom Watcher is different from all of the others in a special way, it has the ability instead of having electrical charge across its body, they are on a small stone structure as they levitate above it. The laser can and will render an animal unconscious if touched by it. They can not be Deactivated by attack, or blown up by Boom Seeds, but if a nearby switch is there, they can deactivate it. I still have not found out the cause to why a switch could deactivate them, if so, it is likely that they are not actual living beings, just tools for the phantoms. 

Pipe

The Phantom Pipe's source is unknown, seems as the second they are clogged with a large cork they explode, leaving no traces to where the source of the filth contaminating the surrounding environment was. They are always contaminating the rivers and streams, sometimes small pools and lakes. when contaminated the water will turn a dark purplish black. If so, it is unable to be walked on until all sources are destroyed and the water is cleaned. 

Sprouter

Even though I still think 'Sprouter' is not a word, many others have stressed to me that it is. So I will at least allow this time it to be called a 'Sprouter' this structure forms randomly, and has an infinite ability to spawn normal phantoms. If not destroyed by a boom seed, the amount of phantoms in the area can get a little out of hand. The structure seems to be made up of rotting and dead plants, followed with many broken pipes. If so, the filth coming from the functioning pipes by many of the rivers that are being contaminated may be apart of a plan to create something... But that is very unlikely. The Sprouter has helped but at the same time confused me and many other on how phantoms are created, and this will continue to confuse us until we have solid evidence. 

It is known that the Alpha Greeley has had very close contact and studies with the phantoms, yet he still refuses to share his work with me... he seems to be hiding a truth, and I promise to reveal it in the name of fulfilling the truth that the Zios library will have all of the knowledge.
